Wow was the weather nice at cross country

Hello everyone I’m back, again.

So I did get past the first stage in cross country. ( I got second, you would know that if you read the other post about cross country) So I did go to zones, like last year. We do it at the same place, I forgot what it was called. O’well. Each year the weather is so bad. It is freezing.    ( We do it in winter and we have to wear these singlet type of tops ) Last year it was raining like crazy. Luckily we were allowed to wear our sport tops on top or underneath the singlets. This blog post is not about the past, well it is kind of, anyway. This year the weather was surprisingly nice so I quite enjoyed my race, as in my fingers stayed on this time. I came fifth in the race which is amazingly the best I have done.

What’s the most craziest weather you have been in ?

Reading. I like reading !

Bonjour

Today I will share another one of my reading tasks with you again. In my reading session we got to read books and compare them to each other. As in their similarities and differences. The books were about New Zealand and in the olden days when the Europeans weren't long settled in to Aotearoa. ( For you who don't know what Aotearoa means. It means New Zealand. Aotearoa was the word given from the Maori )

Here is what I did.

Do you know what language I said hello in ? ( Don't search it up ) ( Like I did ) (:

Another teacher strike.

As some of you guys may know there was another teacher strike recently. Wow the teachers want more money. No. But kind of. The teacher strike is about, spending more time teaching than doing paperwork. Like checking off all the students work after school they spend so much time doing that . They spend 40% teaching and 60% of time doing paperwork. You may think that is just part of there job and it is. But the amount that they have to do is too much. Or maybe they do want more money as well.

What do you think about the teacher strike?

Breakout EDU

Not to long ago the Googlers set up a breakout EDU for the year seven and eights. ( The Googlers are a leadership team they do coding and all that. All the year eights are in a leadership group. I’m in PALS. PALS stands for. Physical Activity Leader. You would only know that if you read my first post.) If you don’t know what a breakout EDU is. It is when you are with a group of people, in a room and you have to try get out. To get out you must open a case, but the case has lots of locks on it. So there would be clues around the room that involved  a story and the clues will help you unlock the locks you have a certain amount of time to do it in. In the breakout EDU for our group we had to do it in 45.00 minutes. We did it in 20 minutes which was really good and we got a prize. Some money in Banqer. ( Not really money, of course )

Have you ever been in a Breakout EDU?

Maths is so fun

Hola everyone

At school we have been working on maths problem solving. ( Which is just a bunch of questions) We have to answer them and put down our thinking. Then we had to take a video and explain our answers.  Here are the questions that we were told to answer.

You could have a go yourself at them and tell me your answers.

Technology

Today I will share with you all about what the year seven and eights in our school go to on every Monday in the afternoon. We go to tech or technology, ( Or maybe even you call it manual. ) In tech we have four different things that we would be doing we change each term. The four things the year seven’s do are, cooking, woodwork, plastics and fabrics. ( Fabric as in sewing ) The year eights do, cooking, electronics, metal and fabrics. Right now I am doing cooking, which is really fun because, well we get to learn how to make food, plus we get to eat it. In term three which is next I will be doing electronics. I have already done fabrics and I got to make a bag that said “save the lions”.

My Speech!

Hello everyone again.

I will share with you about my speech that I have been working on this term. Our speech topic is also on discrimination, I choose to do mine on sexism. The speech had to be 3.45 mins - 4.15 mins. Here is the intro to my speech.

(Intro)

Working at a hospital helping your patients just doing your everyday job as a doctor that saves peoples lives. But what if your patients questioned you about being a female doctor, saying that you can’t be one. Or they say “ You must be the nurse “. How would that make you feel? Not good, right? I would think that you wouldn’t want to go to work anymore because you don’t want to hear those people that are discriminating against  you, when you have helped them to live on and have a happy life and no more pain. This is one act of sexism and stereotyping people. People experience this every day all around the world. So many people are unaware that it happens all the time around them.
