What my goals were for term 2

Hi guys.

Today I will tell you what my goals were this term. My first goal was to get through cross country, well get into the next part, if you have already read my last post you would have seen that I have made it to zones. So that goal is done. Second, it was to enjoy this term of school. Which I can say yes, I mean sometimes I just want a break from school. But don’t we all. And thirdly it was to have all my work done in time. Well I’m getting there. I will have to try it again for next term.

What was your guys new resolution for this year?

Cross country

Hello, I hope you are having a nice day.

Today I will tell you how our cross country went. We had our cross country at Walter Park like we always do. We walked down there in groups and it probably only took us 5-10 mins. Once we were there the teacher lay down the tarpaulins ( It’s kind of like a car cover ) for us to sit on.  ( Instead of the wet grass.) It was a nice morning so I hoped that it would be nice when I ran. The year 8 girls ( Thats me ) had their race second after the year 8 boy. We did stretches and warm ups to get ready for our run.

When our race rolled around I was nervous ( Like I always am )  I was planning to beat my score from last year. Last year I got third which I was quite proud of myself. I was thinking that I could get a place again, but I didn’t know if the other had been training. When we went to line up to get ready to run I waited for the go and trying to tell myself not to go so fast at the start. I ran        ( But not sprinting ) I saw people pass me. I saw one of the last but I gradually made my way up coming second in the race, I am super happy that I made it there. I guess I’m to zones again.

Do you like running?

I'm going live! I'm doing a TED talk on sexism!

Hello, everyone, I hope you are all having a good day today.

For PBL, I may have already said in other blogs. But our focus this term is on discrimination. I have chosen to do sexism, I am presenting it with a TED talk. Our whole hub or the whole of 7& 8 of our school, is presenting something of their choice but it has to be about discrimination, we also have a choice of how to present it. In a TED talk, Poetry slam, drama or a podcast. We are going live, as in streaming on you tube and performing in front of our school. We also have a night time one if any one wants to come see, like parents and other family members and any one that wants to come.

In my next blog post about PBL, I will tell you all how it went, or you could just watch me.

This is my invitation.

Do you know what discrimination is ?

How do you think we can stop it ?

What I have been doing for reading this week.

I guys sorry I haven't posted in some time. But today I will show you what I have been doing this week for reading at school. The book we were reading was called Keeping Promises the treaty settlement processes. This book is about the Treaty of Waitangi and what happened along the line of the treaty. Our followup ( Or home work ) was to make predictions of the story. You could use clues in the story like the pictures or titles. We had to put our predictions on a slide, then we had to read the text to confirm our production and write if we got out prediction right or wrong.

I hope you enjoy my slide.

What is your favourite book to read ?

Art for PBL

Hello

Today I will tell you about the art we have been doing for discrimination and PBL. We could do it about any topic that runs under discrimination. I chose to do mine on ableism. If we no experience of it or seen it we could get a poem of the internet.

Have you ever experienced discrimination or seen it ?

Stand up

Hello, I'm back from my school holidays. I hope you have had a good one.

For this blog today I will tell you about PBL for this term. We are learning about discrimination and what it is about. If you don't know what it is I will tell you. Discrimination is made up with all kinds of things, like being sexist or racist and ageist plus a whole lot more. It is when people discriminate them for being a girl like they can't sit on the chairs and the boys can. ( That is  being sexsisit )

The teachers have given us a project to do and finish it by the end of this term. We have to choose a topic about discrimination and how we will try to stop it, inform people of what it is and when it is happening, we will also present it in front of people. Our choices to present it is Ted talk, Speech, Poetry slam and Drama.  I think that I will do a Ted talk on sexsisim.

They are all so trying to teach us to be aware when discrimination is happening and to help those people that are being affected by it. We also got to experience what it is like.

I think that discrimination should stop as it is not a good thing to do to people. I think most people aren't aware when it is happening so we should try our best to help these people that are in need. But those who are should be brave enough to stand up.

What do you think about discrimination?
